Word Study

Word study explores language usage, spelling, and handwriting.

The students are taught to make connections to words they know to help them spell other words correctly.  Individualized spelling lists are used that consist of words from the spelling principle, high frequency words, and words misspelled in their writing.

During handwriting manuscript writing is taught during first semester.  The lowercase cursive alphabet is taught during second semester.
