7th Grade Physical Education

Yearly Unit Plan

1st Quarter

5 components of fitness are taught – one component of fitness is covered each week.  Pedometers are worn during each unit – steps are recorded.

 

PACER Test – 10% of Grade is run twice a quarter.  This is the cardiovascular endurance test that we use.  Goals are set by each student for this test. Goal setting is explained by the teacher before the students set their PACER goal.  

Fitness Testing – Start the year with testing all students with the Trifit Computerized Fitness assessment system.  The students will be tested on the following:  height, weight, bicep strength, flexibility (sit and reach) and cardiovascular endurance (PACER). Students receive a printed personal profile listing the students’ scores and what they need to do to stay in the healthy fitness zone or how to work out outside of school to reach the healthy fitness zone.   Students set personal goals for each test.

 

Heart Rate Monitor – 25% Grade

Ultimate Frisbee – 25% Grade

Written Test Ultimate Frisbee – 10% Grade

Speedball – 30% Grade

 

2nd Quarter

Heart Rate Monitor – 25% Grade

PACER Test – 10% of Grade is run twice a quarter.  This is the cardiovascular endurance test that we use.  Goals are set by each student for this test. Goal setting is explained by the teacher before the students set their PACER goal.  

 (PACER). Students receive another personal profile and it is reviewed by the teacher and students.   Students review their goals and if their goals are reached they set new goals.   

Volleyball – 25% Grade

Volleyball Written Test – 10% Grade

Basketball – 30% Grade

Team Challenges – not graded – Peer assessment

 

3rd Quarter

Racket Sports (Rotate between pickleball and badminton every other year)– 25% Grade

Team Handball – 25% of Grade

Team Handball Written Test – 10% Grade

Climbing Wall/Snowshoe- Not graded – Peer assessment rubrics used

 

4th Quarter

PACER Test – 10% of Grade is run twice a quarter.  This is the cardiovascular endurance test that we use.  Goals are set by each student for this test. Goal setting is explained by the teacher before the students set their PACER goal.  

TriFit Computerized Fitness Testing:  students are tested for the last time.  Each student receives a printed personal profile.  All goals are reviewed by the teacher and student.     

Rollerblade – 20% Grade

Golf – 20% Grade

Softball – 20% Grade

Fitness written Test – 10% Grade              

Backpacking – Self assessment rubric used.
