Language Arts

Dear parents and students:

We all enjoyed the skit writing and puppet shows last week. Great job, students! (Click here to see skit guidelines and more details.) Hard to believe it’s the last full week of school! Updated grades are hanging in my classroom and students were given grade slips so they know where their grades are and what they need to do.

Students should be studying a little vocab each night for our review test on Friday. The test will cover vocab lessons 9-15. We began reviewing last week and students completed a puzzle reviewing lessons 9-10.

We’ll be reflecting back on this year and students will be working on writing a short 8th grade reflection piece this week, after viewing the movie The Pursuit of Happyness. We discuss the powerful message of the movie and apply it to reaching goals in our own lives.

THIS IS THE LAST WEEK TO RE-TAKE TESTS AND QUIZZES OR RE-DO ASSIGNMENTS!!! When re-taking tests and quizzes to improve grades, students should be taking these as close as possible to the original test/quiz so the information is still fresh. Students need to also be checking the board for their grades to make sure they are on top of missing work.

Please contact me with questions. Let’s have a strong finish to 8th grade!
