Biography – Michelle Neyland

 

 

 

 

Michelle Neyland is a Master's candidate in the Media, Peace, & Conflict Studies Program at the United Nations-Mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica. She is also a 2007-08 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar for Peace and Goodwill to Costa Rica. After graduating in 2005 with a BA in Hispanic Studies from The College of William & Mary, Michelle worked for her alma mater, developing and implementing W&M in Washington, an academic student internship program in Washington D.C. She is originally from Falls Church, Virginia.

As a major component of the final research project for her Masters Program, Michelle has created Virtual Partnership and Learning Space (VPALS), a secure online network to connect students and teachers around the world, so that they may work collaboratively, share cultures, and build mutual understanding. The first schools to participate in VPALS are Greenville Middle School in Greenville, Wisconsin (USA) and St. Paul High School in Santa Ana, Costa Rica.
