Science and Beyond:   Students discussed pollutants in class, including pollutants such as fertilizer run-off.  They then took pond water samples and added either Nitrate, Phosphate, or both to their samples.  They will be observing these over the next ten days for signs of algae blooms.  Students were also assigned to read pg. 47 on eutrophication.

Science:  Students are working on chapter 3.  They will read all three sections on the different types of biomes and then choose one specific biome to create a locker jacket on.  More on locker jackets soon.

Science:  Completed discussing limiting factors for Bubolz.  We then began reviewing the chapter for the upcoming test.  Expect the test to be Tuesday or Wednesday.

Science and Beyond:  Students finish their water treatment with a carbon filtering process and final filtering.  They the complete the final lab work on this activity.  We will also check the groundwater crossword.

Science:  Students took the section  3 quiz, we then went over the symbiosis worksheet.  We then began discussing the limiting factors we will observing on our Bubolz field trip.  No other assignment.

Science and Beyond:  today we discussed how groundwater is filtered as it travels through the ground.  We discussed how man made treatment plants can mimic this process.  Students then constructed a filter to run their water sample through.

Science and Beyond:   Today we discussed the importance of water on earth.  We then began the treatment process on the “sewer water” we prepared last week.  Believe me, it smells and looks pretty nasty!

Science and Beyond:  Students were given a reading supplement to work out of today.  They were assigned a reading and concept map for Monday.  They should also have their LTES location by Monday.

Science:  Students went over the safety test from yesterday.  We also discussed the reading on section 1.  Quiz was assigned as homework for hours 3 and 6, quiz was given as a quiz for hours 4 and 5 (they voted on which they preferred).  No other assignment.

Science and Beyond:  Students took a safety test today.  We then discussed the Long Term Environmental Study and what this project entails.  Students should be securing an area that they can conduct this project on.
