Long Term Environmental Study

Every year my Science and Beyond students conduct a Long Term Environmental Study, or LTES.  The students can work alone or in pairs and choose an area that is as “wild” as possible.  This area might be at a local park or nature preserve, or it could be on property owned by a friend or relative.  They then visit the area periodically throughout the year and make observations on the changing seasons.  They also conduct a variety of studies on their area and incorporate all of their findings into a presentation.  The presentation may be in the form of a three ring binder, a PowerPoint demonstration or a web site.  Click on the links on this page to see the results of some of the students work.
