The city of Split Rock, Wisconsin, represents the city of Marinette, Wisconsin. It is named after Split Rock Lighthouse in northern Minnesota, a must visit place if you're interested in history or lighthouses. This city's primary industry is the large grain elevator that serves lake freighters. When built, this elevator will be over six feet long and over a foot and a half tall! The harbor area of the port will also be modeled and contains a six foot long lake freighter that I am building from a VOCO Marine Models kit. (Now sold by Bearco Marine Models) It will be a United States Grain Consortium vessel named the USGC Wisconsin. There will also be a few smaller industries here in Split Rock as well.
picture Here is a copy of the layout plan for Split Rock. Since this is part of Phase 2 of layout construction, this portion of the layout has yet to be built.
