Classroom Guidance

Mrs. Connolly teaches Guidance classes to all grades at GMS.  For more specifics, please see each grade level below.  Parents are welcome to observe any guidance classes at any time.  Please contact Mrs. Connolly for a specific schedule.

5th Grade

Classroom guidance lessons in 5th grade center around learning the rules of respectful behavior at GMS.  Bullying and harassment and our policies are discussed.

Students also learn conflict resolution

6th Grade

6th graders receive a review of bullying and harassment policies and also focus on study skills and organization skills.

7th Grade

The 7th grade curriculum focuses on specific conflicts 7th graders may have with friends or others and how to cope.  Students also explore career options.

8th Grade

8th Graders receive instruction on coping with harassment, and also Mrs. Connolly brings in speakers during the social issues unit.

Small Group Counseling

Several times a year, Mrs. Connolly offers students a chance to be in small groups.  Topics include divorce, grief, etc.
