Gifted and Talented

Resource Specialist

Linda Lauper

 

Linda Lauper has been working with Gifted and Talented students for the past fourteen years.  She came to Hortonville as the Gifted and Talented Resource Specialist in 1997 from Monroe, WI.

 

While in Monroe her duties included:

 

Teacher of fifth and sixth graders in a mixed homeroom

Adult Leader of Sixth Grade Safety Patrol

Adult Leader for Parents Education Class (Raising Your Kids)

Directed Intern Teachers from UW Platteville

Teacher of Gifted and Talented, grades 1-6

 

In 1992 Mrs. Lauper returned to the University of Wisconsin, Madison where she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology, Gifted, Talented and Creative graduating in 1993.

 

While matriculating at UW-Madison Linda had the privilege to study with professors, Dr. Gary Davis, Dr. Phil Perrone and Dr. Bob Clausen.    All professors are considered authorities in Gifted Education and have authored numerous books.

 

In 1997, Mrs. Lauper accepted the position of Gifted and Talented Resource Specialist in the Hortonville Area School District.  She has continuously held that position for the past ten years and is now is the eleventh year.

 

While in Hortonville her duties have included:

 

Working with G/T students in grades K—8 at HES, GES, HMS, GMS

The past three years she has worked at HMS and GMS with fifth and sixth grades

Writing curriculum for the Gifted and Talented Program

Worked exclusively with parents and students in accelerating students

Worked very closely with G/T students, helping them find and meet the challenges each needs

Presented programs on the Social and Emotional Needs of G/T Kids at the state WATG conference as well as for the local consortiums

Facilitated students taking online classes through WCATY

Coached quiz bowl teams

Created Developmental Educational Plan or DEP

Participated in both the Wolf River Consortium and Fox Valley Consortium

Taught summer school for Gifted Program at UW Stevens Point

Developed curriculum for Shakespeare for summer school classes

Participated in the HASD Writing Assessment

Developed curriculum for pull-out classes

Worked with other instructors in classrooms

 

 

Mrs. Lauper was elected to the Wisconsin Talented and Gifted Executive Board and has served in that capacity for 3 years.  She is also a member of the NAGC, which is the National Association for Gifted.  Her articles and poetry have been published in Gifted Child Today as well as Poetry Anthology.

 

Linda is a devoted parent and grandparent.  She reads extensively, spends as much time as possible with her 2 grandchildren, and walks her dog.  Linda’s husband owns Lauland IBA Dairy Supplies and part of her time is spent helping with the business.  However, she remains devoted to the Gifted and Talented children who have touched her life as well as the students of the future.
